PARIS, December 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Bull today announced having signed and executed an agreement with Eunics SpA, the Italian IT service provider and subsidiary of Eutelia SpA, for the sale of 100% of Bull Italia SpA, the Italian subsidiary of Group Bull. The companies have entered into a 5-year exclusive distribution agreement covering all Bull's products lines in Italy. Financial terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
Didier Lamouche, Bull's Chairman and CEO declared: "This agreement will allow Bull to focus on its core strategic initiatives, while ensuring Bull's long-term presence in Italy. Our customers are assured of the continuity of all existing support and service contracts, and can continue to build their most critical IT infrastructures using our products and technologies. We are pleased to welcome Eunics and Eutelia in the list of our strategic channel partners. Bull Italia and all its employees will join the Eunics Group reinforcing the latter's critical mass and growth strategy."
The distribution agreement with Group Bull grants to Eunics an exclusive right to distribute all Bull product lines over the next five years. Such products include notably the Bull NovaScale(R) server products, that can be used as mainframe systems (with the GCOS 7 and GCOS 8 operating systems), as open business computing platforms (with the Windows(R) and Linux(R) operating systems) and as the foundation of large High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems for the technical and scientific markets. Other main Bull offerings include the EscalaTM UNIX (R) server products, the StoreWay storage products as well as Bull's security products such as the Trustway cryptographic devices.
The partnership is expected to be positive for current Bull customers, who will benefit from the same products and service levels provided so far to them by Bull, while taking advantage of the wide scope of service offerings and the economies of scale provided by Eunics and Eutelia. Significant Bull product initiatives such as HPC will continue to be actively deployed in the Italian market by Eunics, with the strong support of Bull.
This first transaction, which has been closed, will be followed in the coming days by other measures in Italy.
In February 2007, Bull will announce results for 2006 and its objectives taking into account the new structure.
