IRVINE, Calif., April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Epicor|CRS, the Retail Solutions Division of Epicor Software Corporation (Nasdaq: EPIC), a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions to the midmarket and Global 1000, today announced its CRS RetailStore(TM) point-of-sale (POS) solution is now integrated with the name and address verification database from DataServ, a wholly owned subsidiary of VoltDelta, a leading provider of enhanced telephone directory assistance solutions and information services.

The addition of DataServ's valuable, real-time name and address verification database helps enhance the accurate collection of valuable customer information and reduce business' exposure to fraud.

DataServ's telco-sourced directory assistance data, consisting of more than 160 million business, residential and government listings across the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, receives 2.5 million updates per day, resulting in a 99 percent accuracy rate.

With a Web services-based Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) as its foundation, CRS RetailStore offers point-of-sale and back office functionality for integration and real-time connectivity between stores, corporate systems, and other sales channels — including online and catalog operations — allowing key transactional information to be shared across the organization.

Via the integrated DataServ database, RetailStore users can easily enter a phone number to obtain accurate customer names and addresses and quickly populate and update customer information, and confirm data. This helps speed transactions at the register and eliminates many obstacles to obtaining accurate customer information at the point of sale, including manual keying and/or spelling errors and language barriers. Retailers are then able to use this data to track customer purchasing behaviors and retain accurate and updated customer data when customers relocate.

This automatic population of address information streamlines a wide variety of CRS RetailStore transactions, such as CRM, send sales, layaways, and returns and exchanges. Additionally, it helps improve the effectiveness of marketing initiatives — reducing the amount of returned direct mail pieces and improving contact rates.

The solution also helps retailers address the issue of fraud. Address Verification Services are one of the most common tools used to combat fraud, according to the latest merchant fraud survey conducted by the Merchant Risk Council (MRC), a retail industry association devoted to preventing online fraud and promoting secure e-commerce. Last year, the net credit/debit card fraud in the US (after gross charge offs), was estimated at nearly $2 billion dollars.(1)

Epicor|CRS's announcement to integrate the DataServ solution into its RetailStore offering comes on the heels of the company's partnership with RSA to offer integrated data encryption to its retail point-of-sale customers.

"Epicor|CRS is working hard to integrate best practice technologies to capture accurate customer data and prevent fraud," said Nader Nemati, global director of Epicor's retail and hospitality practice. "The DataServ database is industry-leading and offers several advantages, including comprehensive national coverage and remarkable accuracy in further enhancing the speed of service and the overall customer experience."
