CHANTILLY, Va. and RESTON, Va., May 7 /PRNewswire/ — Potomac Fusion, Inc. (PFI) announced today that it is on track to deliver the first version of the GEOINT Mission Support System (GMSS) in the summer of 2007. GMSS provides the Intelligence Community with a Web-based, comprehensive content management and analysis environment.
GEOINT, which stands for GEOspatial INTelligence, is an intelligence discipline comprising the exploitation and analysis of satellite information to describe, assess and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities on Earth. GEOINT sources include imagery and mapping data, whether collected by commercial satellite, government satellite or by other means, such as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or reconnaissance aircraft.
GMSS allows users to collaborate and maintain target development folders using "Community of Interest" (COI)-based methods for collecting, analyzing and publishing GEOINT products.
Users operate with traditional analytic tools, but GMSS integrates this into a collaborative process using Web 2.0 features, such as Weblogs, RSS feeds and Wiki pages. GMSS eases the burdens associated with data collection, content management, data analysis and reporting.
Text extraction technology from Inxight(R) Federal Systems Group (IFSG), the leading provider of federated search, extraction and visualization solutions for government organizations, is a key component in Potomac Fusion's content management and analysis environment.
"Inxight's SmartDiscovery(TM) entity extraction technology, combined with Potomac Fusion's Web-based intelligence environment, enables GMSS to provide structure to unstructured data, allowing users to employ a variety of analysis techniques providing a critical collaborative intelligence tool to the U.S. military," said Daniel Haug, president of Potomac Fusion.
Inxight's solutions combine search, data classification, extraction and visualization with cutting-edge linguistic analysis tools that recognize text at its most granular level. Combined, these capabilities work to deliver the information that transform text into actionable intelligence.
"Inxight Federal Systems is delighted to be working with respected thought leaders such as Potomac Fusion," said Paul Battaglia, president of Inxight Federal Systems. "We deeply respect the work that they do, and are honored to be a part of a solution that supports the mission of our military, and most importantly, the warfighter."
