Sentillion vBusiness Announces Secure Local Printing Capability for Virtual Desktops

ANDOVER, Mass., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Sentillion vBusiness, a division of Sentillion, Inc., today announced a free add-on module for its vThere(TM) desktop virtualization solution, that enables a remote user to print securely from inside a vThere virtual desktop image to any printer accessible from the underlying host, both locally connected and networked. This is all accomplished by establishing a secure communication channel between the image and the host, without the need to use or configure USB devices and print drivers within the image. In addition and in contrast to other virtual machine products, vThere's Print Driver software provides "universal" support for all printers, without having to download or install any additional drivers.

ANDOVER, Mass., May 10 /PRNewswire/ — Sentillion vBusiness, a division of Sentillion, Inc., today announced a free add-on module for its vThere(TM) desktop virtualization solution, that enables a remote user to print securely from inside a vThere virtual desktop image to any printer accessible from the underlying host, both locally connected and networked. This is all accomplished by establishing a secure communication channel between the image and the host, without the need to use or configure USB devices and print drivers within the image. In addition and in contrast to other virtual machine products, vThere's Print Driver software provides "universal" support for all printers, without having to download or install any additional drivers.

Sentillion enables organizations across all industries to address the remote access challenges associated with implementing employee Work@Home programs. Sentillion's vThere solution provides home workers with the same computing experience and security as if they were physically in the enterprise, including secure access to the corporate network, the identical operating system, and applications. In contrast to Citrix(R), VMware(R) VDI and other remote presentation solutions, vThere operates on the worker's local computer and does not require any additional servers. With vThere's secure local printing capability, remote users are now able to print files from an image to their local printer.

From an IT perspective, administrators like this feature because they can opt to include the vThere Print Driver software when creating an image and have full control over whether to provide local printing capabilities to all, some, or none of their remote workforce.

"We heard from many organizations that they encountered significant challenges when it came to local printing with other remote access technologies, such as Citrix," said David Fusari, CTO, Sentillion vBusiness. "With vThere we have radically simplified the capability from both an IT and end-user perspective to securely print from within a virtual desktop."
