Joe,

Thanks for the reply. I have to apologize for the strong wording of my initial comment to your article...I did not mean to offend you and after I posted the comment and re-read it a couple of times I realized the tone was 'combative'. In the future I will email you directly if I have comments or suggestions.

Platform does indeed have open source cluster software. I had spoken to Bill after he made this comment, though I would have preferred an email, or a note with a somewhat different construction.

We will be looking at Platform's cluster stack on Scalability.org.

In my conversation with Bill, he indicated that Platform has multiple open source projects in flight, including one that sounds a good deal like one we are developing (Tiburon) to highly simplify OS and distribution independent cluster loads.

It is good to see a company of Platform's stature working on tools like this. I see opportunities for wider scale collaboration in this space. Distribution and OS specific cluster loads are highly problematic the moment you need to deviate from the base OS.

Again, kudos to Platform for their efforts. Hopefully next time we can get a nice note sent via email so I can issue an update.

If I have made other errors or omissions, please email me, and lets talk about it.

I suggest Joe check his facts before publishing articles that are incorrect regarding Platform Computing's product offering. Our software is Open Source and you can find the source at: http://ocssrc.platform.com - anyone can download it. Now if you don't like compiling it yourself you can download a complete CentOS based version of the software at http://my.platform.com - just register and you can get the CenOS version for free...no strings attached.
