SAN FRANCISCO, June 27 /PRNewswire/ — Thinstall, the leading Application Virtualization solution provider, today announced it has signed more than 100 new customers since March and is now deployed to millions of desktops. During Q1 and Q2 FY07, Thinstall revenue for Virtualization Suite 3.0 grew by nearly 300 percent. This momentum is driven by a significantly expanded portfolio of 'Thinstalled' applications, increasing deployments through OEM Partners.
The company's fast-track sales have exceeded all growth milestones, aided by new distribution relationships. In addition to signing LANDesk and CapaSystems as OEM partners, Thinstall has expanded global sales through the addition of distribution leaders like Lifeboat Distribution in North America, Centia AKS in Northern Europe, Italy's 'high value added' IT distributor, Ready(R)-Informatics; and in Pacific-Asia and Japan Thinstall is allied with SOFTBANK BB as its Japanese Distribution Partner and software distributor MicroWay in Australia and New Zealand. In addition Thinstall added Centralis in the UK and RennerBrown in the US as Platinum Partners.
Applications virtualized with Thinstall can be accessed and updated over an existing delivery infrastructure such as internal company networks, the Internet, Web servers, CD-ROM and USB Flash devices. The application can be run on-demand on locked-down desktops, offline laptops, Terminal Servers and in Citrix environments.
"Customer success with Thinstall today revolves around cost, capability and proven technology," said Henrik Rosendahl, CEO of Thinstall. "Only Thinstall can provide the level of security and stability combined with a track record of more than six years in the Application Virtualization business. Our rapid product updating is also an asset, about every two months. The current v3.1 of Thinstall supports instant application migration to Windows Vista(TM) and an SDK with an API to System Management Solutions to effectively accelerate application rollout for a breadth of enterprise software solutions. Thinstall customers are able to tailor solutions for Thinstall deployment and help drive rapid business results, lower risk, and reduce total cost of ownership."
"IDC believes the market will increasingly implement virtualization in a growing set of use cases, in order to help customers create much more agile service oriented infrastructures (SOI). Corporations are looking for virtualization solutions which are easily managed, reduce costs and provide a stable, secure program that is easily implemented. Through their OEM relationships, Thinstall is providing a dynamic solution to meet a range of user demands," says Michael Rose, Associate Research Analyst, Enterprise Virtualization Software, at IDC.
In a May 2007 report on virtualization, Gartner Research Analyst Tom Bittman notes: "The number one draw to virtualization is cost reduction. Mostly it's server equipment, because this is a great way to consolidate hardware. So that's where they start, and that's the loudest buzz right now. But once they have the virtualization software in place, they begin to realize a range of agility benefits that really aren't widely considered right now."
Virtualization has been used in the past decade to make administration of complex IT environments easier and more flexible, ultimately reducing cost and adding agility. Areas that have been virtualized are Hardware, Storage, Operating Hardware, Operating Systems, I/O and Servers. With the application layer now moving to virtualization, enterprise IT adoption ensures best practice security, speed and cost efficient management. With virtualization used across the network layers, enterprise agility and a competitive bottom- line are assured.
Application Virtualization Pioneer Expands Portfolio — Extends Industry Leadership
A pioneer the virtualization model for application deployment, Thinstall has extended its leadership with the addition of virtualization capabilities for large enterprise application SAP. Additionally, industry-specific applications such as those standard in geological exploration and energy industries as well as hospital and medical industry applications have continued at a rapid pace of innovation with the two Thinstall releases in 2007.
These applications provide a rapid entry to application virtualization in the network, are easily deployed to jumpstart productivity and quickly adapt to evolving business needs through the predictable, stable application deployment and access.
Customers Benefit With Thinstall
"By implementing Thinstall, we estimate that we were ahead in our virtualization project by about four months, than if we had installed another software virtualization solution," said Pierre Genest, Senior Systems Analyst Specialist with the University of Alberta, Canada's Premiere Teaching and Research-Intensive Institution. "Other differentiators that stood out about Thinstall was the speed and ease-of-use in the test project and the cost efficiency and support. With more than 1500 stations requiring the IT department to push applications to the student desktops without any administrative costs, without conflicts with other programs and with complete security, I can safely say that only Thinstall could have quickly and securely deployed to more than 47 decentralized sites with more than 100 applications. We plan to Thinstall the majority of applications and use Thinstall for Windows Vista migration."
Thinstall is the next generation of application deployment. Thinstall's Application Virtualization Platform virtualizes software delivery and access, enabling software companies and enterprises to deploy software without modifying the local operation system. Companies can deploy custom and licensed software across mixed Windows and locked down corporate desktop environments without installation conflicts, system changes or impact on stability. Software updates are easier and faster because regression testing can be reduced to days instead of weeks while installation failures and the associated help desk costs are eliminated.
Thinstall is a client-less application virtualization solution that allows applications to be packaged into simple EXE files that run in user-mode, isolated from the host PC, without installation or changes to the local desktop's registry and file system. The unique, client-less architecture allows "Thinstalled" applications to be run from any LAN, WAN, USB, CD-Rom drive, etc., with zero-footprint on the host PC. The applications run exclusively in user mode, ensuring seamless execution on locked down desktops with no device drives installed, enabling administrations to maintain a secure, clean and stable user desktop and consequently, a heightened level of security.
Founded in 1999, Thinstall has been deployed to millions of desktops around the world. Customers include GE, the US Department of Defense, Qualcomm, Lucent, Northrop Grumman, Morgan Stanley, T-Systems, and Abbott Labs. Thinstall is privately held with company headquarters in San Francisco, CA. For more information, please visit the company's Web site at http://www.thinstall.com or call 415-274-2558.
