FREDERICK, Md., July 12 /PRNewswire/ — Impari Systems, Inc. announced today that Mr. Glenn Brown has joined their Board of Directors. "I'm very happy that we were able to recruit Mr. Brown. His experience as Vice President for Customer Service at Rolls-Royce shows our commitment to providing the best service possible. Impari Systems is focused only on open source and solely for K through 12 schools and our children and educators deserve world-class support," reported Matt Burkhardt, CEO of Impari Systems, Inc.
Brown is known for his high level customer relationship management and strategic business development skills. His achievements include building the top-ranked field service support team in Corporate Aviation in 2004, back- office business process design and logistics improvements, along with developing web-based and conventional support systems as a Managing Partner at a CRM Services Practice. His degrees include an MBA in Finance from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
"Glenn truly believes in the open approach and wants schools to embrace this technology. His business experience and focus on customer satisfaction are the great qualities we were looking for in our management team," said Matt Burkhardt.
The open approach includes open standards, open source and open architecture, a powerful combination. This approach is not simply about technologies — it's about new ways of communicating, collaborating, and exchanging information. Ultimately, it creates the flexibility to choose different pieces of technology that will suit a school's needs and budget, not some predetermined set of components.
Schools are seeing savings in hardware, licensing fees and maintenance costs. Even with the additional training costs and other costs associated with switching to open source software, school districts are reporting up to 78% in cost savings allowing them to get more computers for the same amount. Because most of the applications look and act very much like the popular proprietary packages, end user training is very low. In fact, most people switching to open source software compare it to switching cars — it just takes a few moments to re-orient yourself.
Schools are also able to offer many more applications and educational opportunities with a switch to open source desktops. The universe of open source applications is huge and growing every day. Free, open source software that is used by businesses around the world include 3D modeling software, animation applications, web servers, office suites, and many more. Giving students access to these new, free tools means a richer learning environment for everyone.
Impari means "to learn" in Italian, and we're primed to assist all school districts to learn the benefits, plan, implement and support these great open source tools. Along with the management and computer skills available at Impari Systems, some other great strengths the company brings are change management and information technology architecture experience to help schools tap into the power of open source software.
Impari Systems, Inc was founded to bring the power of open source software that major corporations are currently harnessing to educational institutions.
