In the report, Forrester's Vice President John R. Rymer states, "Oracle is a Leader across the board in our evaluation of application server platforms. This is the result of the broad range of development, deployment, and management features built into its Oracle Application Server and Oracle SOA Suite; its strong strategy; and its growing market presence." He also states, "Oracle's platform is very well integrated, and it provides both the widely used features of today's Web applications and the advanced features that will drive the next generation of Web apps and service-oriented architecture (SOA) apps."

According to the report, "application server platforms are the most important category of application platform software for most enterprises." To assess the state of the application server platform market and rate vendors against one another, Forrester used a combination of vendor surveys, product briefings and customer reference calls to determine the strengths and weaknesses of each offering, evaluating vendors against 175 criteria that were grouped into three categories — the companies' current offering, strategy and market presence.

"We believe Forrester's Application Server Platform Wave further reflects Oracle's position as a leader in the application server platform market," said Thomas Kurian, senior vice president, Server Technologies, Oracle. "As a Leader in this market, we remain committed to delivering innovative, integrated and standards-based middleware offerings, through the Oracle(R) Fusion Middleware product family, that help our customers excel in their respective industries."
