(Nasdaq: BEAS), a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, today announced that it achieved two new record-breaking SPECjAppServer2004 benchmark performance and scalability results with WebLogic Server 10, one setting the record for single-x86-based application servers and the second achieving the overall highest result ever achieved with this benchmark. BEA now leads the industry with the top three highest SPECjAppServer2004 scores.
BEA WebLogic Server 10 with BEA JRockit(R) 5.0 JVM and IBM DB2 Universal Database v9.1.2 running on a single x86-based server set this configuration's new benchmark performance record of 1,538.65 SPECJAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations per Second). This represents a 38 percent increase in performance when compared to the second-place application server running on similar hardware. The result from BEA was achieved running on Linux with an Inspur NF280D server powered by two Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) 2.66 GHz processors.
BEA WebLogic Server 10 also set another world record by scoring 8,253.21 SPECjAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard on an UltraSPARC T1 based Sun Blade 6000 Modular System — achieving the overall highest SPECjAppServer2004 performance score in the industry. Along with the scores held by BEA WebLogic Server 9.2 running on a HP rx6600 cluster, these scores solidify BEA's performance leadership in the application server market as the only vendor to hold the top three SPECjAppServer2004 scores.

SPECjAppServer2004 is a client-server benchmark for measuring the performance of a representative J2EE application on a given configuration of hardware, application server, JVM, database, JDBC drivers and network. The workload is an application that emulates information flow among an automotive dealership, manufacturing, supply chain management and an order/inventory system.
