ST. LOUIS, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems, today unveiled the Amdocs CES (customer experience systems) Blueprint. The Amdocs CES Blueprint is the first visionary outline of the operating environment communications service providers need to establish in order to transform from providers of utility voice, data and video services into purveyors of the digital lifestyle- delivering a seamless customer experience-personalized, participatory and timely across any service, location and device. Adhering to current and evolving industry standards, the Amdocs CES Blueprint leverages Amdocs comprehensive business process best practices based on real-world scenarios, resulting in a compelling vision for the successful convergent service provider of the future. Amdocs also announced the formation of a new business unit to deliver advertising, commerce and entertainment products and services. This announcement was made in advance of the Mobile Marketing Forum taking place this week in Los Angeles.
The Blueprint transcends traditional business support systems (BSS), operations support systems (OSS) and service delivery platforms (SDPs), and encompasses all current and emerging customer experience business processes.
"Three years ago Amdocs coined the concept of the intentional customer experience TM recognizing that service providers cannot compete on technology alone. Increasingly, they compete on the basis of the value that they create and the profit they can derive from delivering a differentiating customer experience," said Guy Dubois, executive vice president of Amdocs. "This philosophy has driven our strategy for several years; as a result, we've gained tremendous intellectual capital through our real-world experience and have extended our product leadership. We are now sharing our industry-specific insight, knowledge and vision to help all service providers move beyond the traditional OSS and BSS technology-centric approach and confidently transform with our customer experience systems approach."
"This vision shapes our portfolio direction and future releases," added Dubois. "By allowing service providers to follow either a holistic or modular approach, as well as the freedom to avoid vendor lock-in within the information technology – or IT stack, the Amdocs CES Blueprint and product portfolio set the stage for a low-risk transformation, with high return on investment and ultimately – improved competitiveness, agility and profitability."
"Over the past 25 years, Amdocs has deepened its industry-specific knowledge and grown a unique business processes repository," said Karl Whitelock, senior consulting analyst, Stratecast a division of Frost & Sullivan. "Reinforced through its recent execution of some of the largest transformation projects the industry has known, the company is now introducing the Amdocs CES Blueprint which significantly enhances its statement-of- direction. This continues to position Amdocs as an industry leader in today's evolution -from IT-focused to customer experience-focused solutions."
A New Approach: the Amdocs CES Blueprint
Amdocs has outlined the following operating environment layers to serve as the foundation for service providers' evolutionary transformation into purveyors of the digital lifestyle:
– Real-time multi-network interaction – bridges IT and the network, addressing the challenges and opportunities of the evolution to Internet Protocol (IP) networks; from service creation to delivery, active mediation, and assurance – to track and enhance the customer experience.
– Industry-optimized information management – a comprehensive master data management (MDM) layer that encompasses industry-specific data models and tools to power service providers with a "single source of truth." This helps to reduce operational expenses and improve the customer experience, for example, through optimized customer and product data management and actionable business intelligence.
– Functionally-rich customer experience applications – modular, industry- leading applications including capabilities to support seamless customer experience business processes and all new revenue engines such as digital commerce and advertising; with strong integration and built on a common next generation platform with service oriented architecture (SOA) principles – enables flexibility in transformation approaches and true, uncompromising differentiation.
– Packaged industry business processes – software-imbedded and documented best practices fueling standards-based, modular solutions that shorten time- to-solutions, improve service innovation and reduce transformation risk – to drive the intentional customer experience and accelerate transformational time-to-market.
– 'Smart' customer and partner interactions across any channel – infuses operational processes with channel-independent, real-time decision capabilities – allows for a consistent, simple and transparent experience across any customer or partner interaction channel; supports the sharp increase in the number and diversity of partners expected in the digital age.
New Division to Deliver Innovative Digital Advertising, Commerce and Entertainment Solutions
To support the growing industry focus on digital commerce and advertising, Amdocs today also introduced its new Advertising, Commerce and Entertainment division. The Advertising, Commerce and Entertainment offering advances Amdocs' delivery against the CES Blueprint by combining the industry-leading Qpass digital commerce platform, existing Amdocs products that enable the selling and publishing of traditional print and new media advertising, and a number of new products that allow providers to introduce and manage digital retail and content offerings across multiple devices, services or marketing models.
One such product also introduced today in a separate announcement is the updated and enhanced Qpass Off-Portal Suite, a digital commerce software solution designed to help service providers monetize network services such as payments, distribution, and location, delivered by third party merchants directly to consumers. This solution complements the recently introduced Qpass Retail Suite for "on-portal" transactions that delivers a leading edge storefront customer experience over branded mobile Internet sites promoted and discovered via the official mobile service providers' portals (on-portal), with any content, across any network, using any device.
2008 and beyond
As the undisputed leader in the industry for providing business-critical product-based solutions, Amdocs already delivers many pieces of the CES Blueprint. However, Amdocs will continue to innovate to help its customers move closer to building a comprehensive CES-based environment. The company will do so by expanding the scope of its offerings to address a wider customer experience systems footprint, advancing its integration leadership, SOA evolution and enriching its leading applications.
Throughout 2008, Amdocs expects to introduce new product releases across multiple layers of the CES Blueprint. For example, multi-channel ordering functionality to enhance its offering around the 'Smart' customer and partner interactions layer, and new business processes solutions. The new releases will further promote Amdocs' significant portfolio integration, leverage SOA principles, demonstrate functional leadership and advance Amdocs' industry- specific business process capabilities — dramatically re-defining the customer experience.
