DENVER, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — CIBER Enterprise Solutions, a division of CIBER, Inc. (NYSE: CBR), today announced that Oracle Consulting selected it to help implement and integrate Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0 for all campuses of the University of Colorado (CU). In addition, CU will implement Oracle(R) SOA Suite, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, to build a service-oriented architecture (SOA) that will help integrate various applications and improve IT system flexibility and efficiency. This project marks one of the first implementations of Oracle SOA Suite at a higher education institution.

The PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions application will replace CU's mainframe-based information data management system (IDMS) by Sungard Higher Education. The student information systems will also integrate with CU's existing PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management applications, delivering even greater operational efficiency.

Competition for qualified students is increasing among universities nationwide, just as federal funding for public institutions decreases. In an effort to meet these demands and cost-effectively deliver more services to candidates, students, staff, and faculty, CU sought an information technology (IT) system that would help it reduce duplicate data entry, promote data access and reusability, improve transparency and compliance with federal regulations, and increase student recruiting and retention.

For the project, titled Project MetamorphoSIS (where SIS stands for Student Information System), Oracle will provide the PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions suite, and Oracle Consulting, with CIBER working as a subcontractor, will implement the software applications and integrate them into the existing IT systems at CU's Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver campuses. The project will include implementation of PeopleSoft Enterprise Student Administration, PeopleSoft Enterprise Customer Relationship Management, PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal, and PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions Data Warehouse. CU will use Oracle User Productivity Kit (UPK) to tailor new business processes, streamline the implementation process, and encourage user acceptance.

According to David Makowski, CU's Assistant Vice President of Computing and Information Systems, University Management Systems, "Project MetamorphoSIS is an important initiative for CU. As a result, we approached the project with great deliberation, and chose Oracle Consulting and CIBER because of their demonstrated experience in the industry and expertise with Oracle applications. Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions Suite is the industry leader in managing data for higher education institutions of all sizes. Together, Oracle and CIBER offered a flexible, innovative solution that met our specific needs."

"Like higher education institutions nationwide, the University of Colorado needed a cost-effective solution that provides the highest quality and advanced functionality," said Oracle Vice President, Higher Education, Steve Koporec. "We are pleased to work with CIBER to meet the university's implementation goals and help it deliver a more efficient, personalized student experience."

CIBER, a Certified Advantage Partner in Oracle Partner Network, is a leader in the U.S. and Canadian Oracle and PeopleSoft higher education markets, having implemented Oracle and PeopleSoft Enterprise applications at more than 150 institutions in the United States and Canada. Approximately 25 percent of Oracle and PeopleSoft higher education customers have worked with CIBER to implement and/or upgrade their software. CIBER won Oracle's 2005 UK Partner Innovation Award for implementations at the Universities of Cambridge, Manchester, and Derby in the United Kingdom.

"Information technology touches nearly every aspect of a university's operations, so having an efficient, robust, integrated system can help institutions of any size deliver the best services to students, employees, and alumni, while providing the best value per funding dollar," said Mike Dillon, Senior Vice President of CIBER's Higher Education Practice. "Our Higher Education Practice is dedicated to understanding the goals, challenges, and requirements of this industry, so we can build the most efficient, effective solution for clients' needs."

Founded in Boulder in 1876, the University of Colorado offers more than 300 degree programs to 52,700 students. For the last six years, CU has been ranked by the National Science Foundation (NSF) among the top ten universities in federal and non-federal research expenditures-especially in the areas of environmental science, psychology, and the physical sciences-which indicates a very high degree of research activity by CU's faculty.
