EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ — Xiotech Corporation today announced several new customers have purchased Xiotech(R) Magnitude 3D(R) storage area network (SAN) systems. New customers include DaySpring Cards, a subsidiary of Hallmark; Eau Claire Area School District; Hard Rock Park; Highlands County Clerk of Courts; Prelude Services; and Widen Enterprises Inc.

Several of the customers cited the ease-of-use provided by Xiotech's newly released ICON Manager interface as a key factor in their decision. Additionally, the new customers selected Xiotech for the flexibility and business continuity attributes of the Magnitude 3D systems.

DaySpring Cards, a leading manufacturer and distributor of Christian greeting cards and other personal expression products and gifts, selected the Magnitude 3D storage system to replace its direct-attached storage.

"Historically, we used direct-attached storage to manage all of our storage needs," said DaySpring Cards Technology Services Manager Rick Reed. "Rapid growth demanded that we improve this infrastructure with more flexibility while minimizing administration. The Magnitude 3D system met all of our objectives, while providing the best user interface in the market: ICON Manager."

Another new Xiotech customer, Wisconsin's Eau Claire Area School District, also needed a more flexible, user-friendly way to manage its electronic information, while improving data availability and protection.

"We needed a more efficient and flexible method of deploying and managing increasing volumes of data across our district," said Eau Claire Area School District Director of Technology Bob Scidmore. "We first tried out the system in Xiotech's Customer Test Lab, and really liked the simple interface, flexibility and reliability the system provided. With Xiotech we feel confident our data will be available and protected today and in the future as our needs change."

As a new company, Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based Hard Rock Park came to Xiotech without an existing storage infrastructure. With the company planning to open to the public in spring 2008, implementing the right technology to manage office operations efficiently from the start was of utmost importance.

"We selected Xiotech for three critical reasons: rapid, easy deployment; unparalleled ease of use; and a proven efficient design to manage our storage needs," said the company's Director of Information Technology Dave Montoya. "Hard Rock Park is the first major theme park created in more than 20 years, and we are committed to leveraging the best technology to run our operations. Xiotech and VMware deliver the innovation we need."

Sebring, Fla.-based Highlands County Clerk of Courts determined a SAN from Xiotech would replace its end-of-life direct-attached storage system, which was managing data across the Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts; County Recorder; and Clerk, Accountant and Auditor to the Board of County Commissioners.

"We selected the Magnitude 3D system for its ease of administration and expansion, as well as its distributed cluster architecture and DataScale(TM) GeoRAID(TM) software, which will keep our applications and data online and available," said Highlands County Clerk of Courts Chief Technology Officer Jerome Kaszubowski. "We also are implementing blade servers and server virtualization software to further improve IT efficiency and reduce costs."

"Many midsized organizations using direct-attached storage or network-attached storage are seeking the reliability, performance and flexibility of a SAN, yet with limited IT staff and resources, they need a system that is easy to use," said Xiotech Storage Solutions Group General Manager Steve Snyder. "Our ICON Manager interface provides users with unprecedented ease-of-use with its server-centric view, which allows administrators to manage storage just as they do Windows server volumes. ICON Manager also provides a storage-centric view for power users. With other features such as Intelligent Provisioning and a variety of replication options, Magnitude 3D systems provide the features that today's businesses demand."

The Magnitude family of storage systems includes seven models: Magnitude 3D 4000s, Magnitude 3D 4000e, Magnitude 3D 4000e Edge, Magnitude 3D 3000s, Magnitude 3D 3000e, Magnitude 3D 3000e Edge and Magnitude 750. The Magnitude family supports iSCSI and Fibre Channel, allowing organizations to select the network connectivity, along with capacity and functionality that best meets their business needs.
