What on earth is "Medi", as in "Tapes and Other Medi"?

Media is the plural of "medium".

One can try a little too hard to be clever. :)

I think it is a necessary reply to Norton Ghost.
Norton Ghost 12.0.
(see http://dan.somnea.free.fr/2C/index.php) Ghost accept an USB Maxtor One Touch HDD. This Bacula is an Open Source product. It allows backing up a Windows-based computer to be saved on another network node; this one contains a Linux-based Computer ... etc.
Norton Ghost is written for Windows platform only. Moreover, the private person who makes backup/restore must know the inner architecture of system state very well. Otherwise, the surprise after restore could be unpleasant.
The old Nbackup utility present on the Windows/XP SP2 (for Windows/NT4 platform) is an unhappy solution.
Sincerely,
This article fails to answer one critical question when it comes to backup software. Does it do bare metal backups including disks that are in hardware or software RAID?

A bare metal install to a raid? I believe this would only be possible if the OS does not see the component drives ... i.e. the controller must virtualize the drives into a single target device. If creating a meta-device (e.g. via MD) is required during OS install there are (currently) several non-obvious steps required to support bootup when the first (boot) device dies.
