BEIJING, Dec. 6 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ — CCID Consulting, China's leading research, consulting and IT outsourcing service provider, and the first Chinese consulting firm listed in Hong Kong (Hong Kong Stock Exchange: HK08235), releases its article on the SOA market.

With its revolutionary and innovative architecture and new IT strategy, SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) has become an incontrovertible star in the current software market. The research findings of CCID Consulting show that China's SOA market presents the trend of rapid growth (http://www.ccidconsulting.com/upload/12420.gif) and enjoys a promising future. More than 70% of Chinese enterprises have accepted the SOA, begin to or have deployed SOA http://www.ccidconsulting.com/upload/12421.gif

As observed by CCID Consulting, many well-known manufacturers in China and abroad have shifted their focus to the Chinese SOA market, and the best representing ones include IBM, BEA, Oracle, SAP and Chinese Primeton. The main performance of SOA manufacturers in the market from 2006 to 2007:

— SAP released SAP6.0 in 2006, which is the first SOA-based product applied to enterprises. — In August 2006, Oracle initiated the SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) Theme Forum in China — In September 2006, BEA released SOA platform- BEA SOA3600 platform — In 2006, Oracle SOA package 10g (Version III) came into the global market — On November 1, 2006, IBM, jointly with Indian Pune, founded two new IBM SOA global scheme centers in Beijing. — In 2007, Primeton became a core member of OASIS — On May 29, 2007, Primeton released SOA international standard in China

It is observed from the above table that many powerful enterprises have entered the SOA market, and it is a force that supports the development of alliances among manufacturers.

The power of alliances can't be denied. In a huge market, no manufacturer is capable of monopolizing the market, and they can win a share only through organizing alliances and seeking cooperation. In the 3G market, the Chinese standard was recognized by the world because of the TD – SCDMA alliance strategy, which also helps Chinese manufacturers recognize these opportunities in the 3G market.

Likewise, the alliances also play an important role in the SOA market with cut-throat competition.

Establishing the SOA standard in November 2005, IBM, BEA, Oracle, SAP and Primeton founded OSOA (Open Service Oriented Architecture), a cooperative organization that released two SOA technical specifications: SCA (Service Component Architecture) and SDO (Service Data Object). In March 2006, the 18- member OSOA organization declared the completion of key parts of SCA (Service Component Architecture) and SDO (Service Data Objects) and submitted the completed parts to OASIS (The Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) in order to boost the open standard process.

The establishment of SOA standards has paved the way for the extensive use of SOA, and one can see that the future SOA market will be dominated by the manufacturers who control the SOA standards. According to the data of CCID Consulting, the leading manufacturers in the global SOA market are IBM, BEA, ORALCE and SAP, all key members of OSOA organization, and Primeton is also leading in China's SOA market.

Meanwhile, a similar alliance, Changfeng Alliance, has appeared in China. Since its founding on April 14, 2005, the number of Changfeng Alliance members has grown from 22 to 50, including quite a few famous manufacturers, such as Digital China, UFIDA Software and Beida Founder. In 2005, the Alliance included the SOA promotion in its technical development plan and in 2006 formed a SOA-based technical blueprint, including White Paper of Changfeng Alliance on SOA Reference Architecture, Changfeng Alliance SOA e-Government Technical Architecture and Solutions, White Paper of Changfeng Alliance on SOA Promotion Strategies, etc.

CCID Consulting deems that the major manufacturers in China and abroad understand the role of alliances and try to participate in the SOA standard establishment in order to become more competitive in the SOA market.

Meanwhile, the SOA manufacturers represented by IBM, BEA, SAP, ORACLE and Primeton, take advantage of the co-partners and alliances during product R&D and market development. Major manufactures have formulated standard co-partner admission flows, cooperation strategies and cooperation solutions. IBM set up the IBM SOA co-partner community online for helping its co-partners formulate work plans, study SOA and enforce SOA architecture. Meanwhile, IBM also seeks cooperation with Chinese manufacturers, such as Digital China, Langchao, UFIDA, Kingdee, Neusoft and CSS and has established SOA innovation centers jointly with UFIDA and Langchao respectively. SAP also strengthens the cooperation with HP in the SOA field. Primeton has established cooperative relationships with more than 40 software developers and is developing the international market through cooperation with Huawei. Now it has gained market share in the telecom field in Iceland, Indonesia, Holland and Thailand.

CCID Consulting deems that, along with the fast growth of China's SOA market year by year, major manufacturers should, in order to get higher market share, integrate resources and promote competitive power through horizontal and vertical alliances and cooperation. As in the SOA market, Chinese manufacturers have the chance to develop the national industries and gain strength. Primeton has taken a successful step to establish the SOA international standard, and Changfeng Alliance is playing a bigger role during SOA standard establishment. But in order to compete with major manufacturers abroad and Chinese manufacturers, they need to strengthen the Chinese and international alliances, integrate resources, participate in international competition and promote the national software industry.
