MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ — ClearApp, a provider of comprehensive application service management (ASM) for J2EE-based composite applications, today announced that industry analyst research firm Enterprise Management Associates (EMA(TM)) has recognized QuickVision 7.5 as one of a new breed of ASM modeling products that can help mitigate the pain of IT organizations struggling to manage the sophistication and complexity of today's business applications and related services. The report, titled "ClearApp: Demystifying Composite Apps with Visibility to the 'Red Zone'" is available for download free from ClearApp's website.

The EMA report cites recently completed research that queried 150 IT executives on their top concerns in managing heterogeneous, distributed applications — cited first was the high cost of support and second the lack of available management tools. The rapid evolution of business applications — including service-oriented architecture, web services, and virtualization — has outpaced the capabilities of traditional application management solutions, the report concludes. EMA terms the disconnect and lack of visibility into the relationships between transactions occurring within applications and their underlying foundation technology the "Red Zone." Without understanding the interrelated dependencies between hardware and software, EMA argues, IT application support teams are blind to critical information necessary to perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis and other support functions.

In addressing the "Red Zone" problem, EMA senior analyst Julie Craig states, "The reality is that products like QuickVision 7.5, in which ever-higher levels of expertise are automated, are likely the only answer to this problem." She continues, "As such, it deserves serious consideration by companies seeking an automated service mapping solution for highly distributed and complex software systems."

EMA believes that, within the next few years, every major systems management company that aspires to managing applications will need to incorporate — through acquisition or engineering — service modeling capabilities into their solutions.

ClearApp QuickVision 7.5 is an ASM solution that continuously correlates the services provided by business applications from the top down to the underlying code components supporting those services. It provides the necessary business context required to effectively manage the performance of complex composite applications. It intelligently determines the appropriate monitoring points, displays role-based dashboards with relevant metrics, and dynamically adjusts to change within the context of the application services being delivered.
