SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ — DeviceVM, Inc., a San Jose-based startup, announced today the company's flagship product, Splashtop(TM), was named one of 2007's Greatest Linux Innovations by Phoronix, a popular technology website. Splashtop first started shipping in October, bundled on the ASUS P5E3 Deluxe motherboard, branded as "Express Gate."

Splashtop enables users to access the Internet seconds after turning on their PC. Splashtop is built on Linux and integrates with the PC BIOS. Launching after the user turns on the computer and before the primary operating system, such as Windows or Linux, Splashtop enables users to start their applications immediately.

"We are excited and honored that Phoronix selected us as one of their choices for greatest Linux achievements," said Mark Lee, co-founder and CEO of DeviceVM. "Clearly Linux-based products are gaining momentum in the consumer market, not to mention the general shift toward open platforms such as Android in the mobile space and the ASUS Eee PC in the low cost PC space."

Splashtop is available today on the ASUS P5E3 Deluxe motherboard, and in 2008 the company plans on wider adoption through other platforms, including desktop and laptop configurations. DeviceVM is also demonstrating at the upcoming 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 7-10. The company has multiple demonstrations inside the ASUS booth, 35162 in South Hall 4, in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
