PARIS, December 20 /PRNewswire/ — iDOO.com is one of the first European portals to offer OpenID, a new service allowing any web surfer to use a single Internet address. The site's web server, http://www.openidoo.com, is available in Beta version.
Among the main developments in frequent surfing habits, one of the more laborious aspects is the daily connection to Internet sites. Users are waiting for improvements: simpler, faster connection without the risk of making mistakes or forgetting multiple user names and/or passwords.
A new service that helps web surfers identify themselves on the web. The principle is simple:
1 – The web surfer specifies his/her new identity on the server: http://www.OpenIdoo.com and gets it back as a simple URL, for example openidoo.com/username.
2 – The web surfer can then add more profiles according to surfing needs, for example, internet search, e-shopping, membership services, information, etc.
3 – In order to connect to a (compatible) site, the OpenIDOO server automatically checks the web surfer's OpenID and connects him/her instantly.
"We consider that the OpenID authentication protocol is going to become a vital service for websites and major Internet applications", says Cedric Nilly, iDoo.com's head of software architecture.
Close to 5,000,000 users on iEUROP websites are directly affected.
In addition to http://www.iDOO.com, its new contributory website, iEUROP is going to offer this identification service to all other users in the future. Content sites such as http://www.iFrance.com, http://www.iEspana.es, e-commerce website http://www.cashcash.fr, or the affiliation web marketplace http://www.Rentabilisez.com will benefit. This represents almost 5,000,000 users with varying profiles and usage needs (webmasters, contributors, consumers, service users, etc). The main advantages are: security, ease of use, access to reports on your web activity and the availability of several profiles according to your surfing habits.
A service freely available to the OpenSource community.
OpenSource has been chosen in order to allow other contributions to this project. Other complementary partnerships in this project are currently being planned with major freeware providers: MANDRIVA, for Linux (with their server, mandriva.openidoo.com), and the MYSQL database.
