Proofpoint Concludes 2007 With Another Record Quarter and More Than 50% Annual Revenue Growth

Customer acquisition was again strong, representing more than half a million new mailboxes under protection. New customers for the quarter included globally recognized brand names across a wide variety of vertical industries including the company's core financial services, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, ISP/service provider, government and higher-education markets. As in previous years, customer satisfaction and retention was extraordinarily high and Proofpoint maintained its customer renewal rate of more than 98%.

Proofpoint's continued focus on delivering the most advanced and accurate protection against both inbound and outbound message-borne threats helped to accelerate competitive conversions throughout Q4. The superior functionality, effectiveness and value delivered by Proofpoint's solutions led to displacements of solutions including Secure Computing (CipherTrust), Tumbleweed and Google (Postini) as well as competitive wins against Cisco (IronPort).

SaaS Email Security and DLP Solution Gains Wide Adoption

Initially launched in Q3 2007, the new Proofpoint on Demand(TM) service has been extremely well received by the market, protecting nearly half a million end user mailboxes. The Proofpoint on Demand service now processes millions of messages per day, protecting customers from both inbound spam and viruses as well as guarding against leaks of private and confidential information.

During Q4, Proofpoint won its first customers that are using the advanced data loss prevention features of Proofpoint on Demand to protect private customer information such as financial and healthcare data. Building on the success of the service in the US market, Proofpoint also debuted the Proofpoint on Demand service for Australian customers during Q4.

Continued Strength for Proofpoint's Virtual Appliance, Technology Innovation

Proofpoint's unique virtual appliance for email security and data loss prevention, the Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway(TM) Virtual Edition, once again played a key role in accelerating evaluations of Proofpoint's products. During the quarter, Proofpoint's virtual appliance was adopted by a record number of customers as their main deployment platform or for deployment in a hybrid configuration alongside Proofpoint's hardware appliances.

Proofpoint continued to innovate in other areas, launching new quad-core processor powered versions of the Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway(TM) appliance and continuing to update its Proofpoint MLX(TM) machine-learning-based anti-spam technology to offer enhanced protection against the latest threats. Proofpoint MLX delivers the most accurate and effective spam protection available, averaging more than 99.91% effectiveness during the month of December 2007, as measured against Proofpoint's global network of spam honeypots.

Channels and International Business Delivered Strong Performance in Q4 and Throughout 2007
