NEW HAVEN, Conn., March 11 /PRNewswire/ — REvolution Computing, a provider of software for computational statistics, today announced the appointments of Colin Magee as vice president of Sales and Marketing and Jill Goldschneider as vice president of Research & Development. REvolution Computing also announced the opening of offices in Seattle, Washington, as part of its continued growth.
Magee brings 15 years of experience in the sales and marketing of technology software, while Goldschneider brings 10 years of applied research development experience from Insightful Corp.
"Colin and Jill bring a wealth of expertise to REvolution Computing," said Richard Schultz, CEO of REvolution Computing. "Colin has a proven record of growing revenue, and building sales teams and distribution channels for software firms, while Jill has spent many years building and managing data analysis research and development teams."
"This is the perfect time to be joining REvolution Computing," said Jill Goldschneider, who will head up the new Seattle offices. "'R' is becoming the de-facto standard computational statistics package for an estimated one million users of statistical software worldwide, and we have some very interesting and ambitious plans in the coming months and years."
The new management hires come just weeks after Intel Capital, the global investment arm of Intel Corp., announced it had invested in the Series A financing of REvolution Computing. Intel Capital said it was attracted to REvolution Computing's commercially supported RPro and ParallelR software, which enhances and optimizes the open source 'R' statistical programming environment for high-performance computing.
"I'm very excited about joining REvolution and the opportunity that presents, since 'R' is becoming the data analysis system of choice for a wide range of industries," said Colin Magee. "REvolution's support for the community and dedication to delivering value-added benefits to the marketplace, as well as its expertise in performance and scalability, should be of great interest to companies and researchers alike looking to extend their use of 'R'."
Magee has a proven track record in the data analysis market. He served with Insightful Corporation from 2001 – 2007, first as Director of Sales for Northern Europe, then was promoted to Vice President Europe in December 2004, where he successfully grew and managed sales and field operations, increasing revenues by more than 20 percent per annum during his tenure.
Prior to 2001, he held positions as Director of Sales at Freemarkets Inc. and Sales Manager at Mathsoft International, as well as six years with MIS Banking Systems in London, gaining a variety of experience in marketing, project management and Account Management. He graduated with a BA from the University of London in 1989.
Goldschneider, who graduated from the University of Washington with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1997, has spent her professional career at Insightful Corp., where she worked her way up from being a research scientist to being Director of Research overseeing the development of computational statistics and machine learning analytics, and visualization tools that have broad application in finance, bioinformatics, data mining and data analysis.
