Interesting you should mention that Blunt. I have actually written a second part to this article, which is alluded to in the concluding paragraphs in this article. The second part focuses on server-side integration techniques using GWT's own RPC mechanism as well as ways to integrate with Spring MVC and Struts application frameworks. The second article isn't an exhaustive treatment of integrating GWT with other frameworks, but it is certainly a step in that direction that should help developers a long way.

I'm not sure what the publishing plan is for the folks at Linux Magazine, but I believe the second part to this article should come up within a month or two.

I'd love to see an article by someone with experience trying to plug a gwt/ajax interface over a mature collection of java libraries. We recently tried creating a web-based app to replace a swing application already built on a solid MVC architecture. Using gwt for the View turned out to be an extensive series of headaches. If someone with good gwt knowledge has navigated the shoals of strange class loader behavior; the subset of java actually supported by gwt; and differences in actual functionality from google's implementation it could really benefit people trying to use gwt in contexts other than the standard tutorial scenario.

Hello Linux Magazine Readers,

It has come to my attention that the sample code referenced in the article is not linked, and further some sample code snippets that were in the original draft have not been referenced at all.

I have contact the editors at Linux Magazine to get this fix this problem as soon as possible. In the meantime, I've copied and pasted the screenshots and code samples referenced in the article to the Google Doc linked below.

http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ddbpq32p_9c8hrfkhs

Sample code references that were omitted often came up very close to samples that were referenced. To make the placing of these missing code samples clearer, I've included them under the same sample # heading as their closest neighbouring reference. To avoid confusion, these samples are separated from the actual referenced samples with a '------'.

Thanks, and happy reading!

Sumit,
It would be really great if you could attach the sample code as a zip file.
