NonStop Wireless is an innovation that is delivered in the new version of Trapeze Mobility System Software (MSS). MSS runs on all Trapeze equipment, from access points to controllers and is backwards compatible across the company's entire product line. Mobility System Software 7.0: Unmatched Reliability and Availability
Smart Mobile, through MSS, has been delivering application-specific switching for improved performance in latency sensitive applications, and bridging and meshing for seamless mobility indoors and outdoors. With Version 7.0, MSS has added a revolutionary capability not available in wireless systems to date, the Trapeze NonStop Wireless(TM) network and its enabling Virtual Controller Cluster technology. This technology delivers Controller Virtualization which dramatically improves the overall reliability of the wireless LAN in much the same way Server Virtualization provides reliability for server based enterprise applications. In the event an access point or controller fails or is disconnected for any reason, the Mobility System Software intelligently and automatically remaps resources until the problem is resolved. This capability eliminates the need to purchase and configure hot- standby controllers, works in conjunction with existing resiliency strategies such as automatic re-adjustment of RF power levels and channel assignments to mitigate coverage holes, and unlike any other wireless network, performs these functions so fast that data connections are never dropped and voice calls and critical data sessions stay constantly connected. Building materials, distance, carpeting, vegetation, windows, doors, shape of a room, partition height, moving obstructions … there are too many variables for a person to successfully plan for predicted coverage without an integrated planning tool. That's why Trapeze Networks' RingMaster has won industry accolades and the loyalty of thousands of network managers as a complete and integrated life-cycle management platform with its rich features for planning, reporting, monitoring, optimization, security and fault management. With the latest Version 7.0, RingMaster incorporates powerful built-in 802.11n planning capabilities. Companies can now plan an 802.11n network as a completely new greenfield deployment, as an addition to their legacy 802.11 a/b/g network, or provide 802.11n access in selective areas where it is needed most. This allows customers to make an easy transition to 802.11n as their needs require it. The RM-200 combines the latest software version of RingMaster with a rack- mount hardware appliance based on a Linux OS, pre-tuned and optimized for best performance. The appliance includes dual 250 GB hard drives configured to RAID 1 to collect monitoring and configuration data. Highest Performance Controller Supports 12,000 Clients
The Mobility Exchange MX-2800 is Trapeze Networks' next generation, high capacity WLAN controller. With 28 Gbps of switching, more than four times faster than the closest competitor, it is the highest performance controller available. The MX-2800 supports up to 12,000 active client devices for larger deployments in complex environments such as those found in higher education and multi-facility healthcare, and automatically expands using Trapeze's Virtual Controller Cluster technology for up to 64 units, meaning that IT staff only manage one virtual cluster that can handle more than 32,700 access points.
Wi-Fi Alliance Certifies MP-432 for IEEE 802.11n draft 2.0 Interoperability
The new MP-432 802.11n access point delivers a new level of performance and reliability to Trapeze wireless LANs. The MP-432 leverages Trapeze's unique Smart Mobile architecture, which enables wireless traffic to be forwarded at the access point without having to pass through a WLAN controller. As a result, the MP-432 delivers the dramatically higher throughput possible with 802.11n while placing virtually no additional burden on the wired infrastructure or the wireless controller. Trapeze customers will therefore be able to deploy MP-432s without worrying about the impacts to their networking infrastructure, resulting in significant cost savings.
SmartMobile application specific switching remains in contrast to other vendors such as Cisco Systems and Aruba Networks, whose centralized wireless architectures are inflexible and require all traffic to pass through a central controller. This approach creates potential bottlenecks in both the wired infrastructure and the wireless controllers when 802.11n access points are deployed in large numbers, requiring costly upgrades to the controllers in the network.
The MP-432 has redundant power and network features to help ensure maximum uptime. Each MP-432 contains two 3*3 MIMO radios for simultaneous operation at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and supports 802.11 b/g/n and a/n. Dual redundant 1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet uplinks, each supporting 802.3af or draft 802.3at (high-power) Power-over-Ethernet, connects the MP-432 to the network. This month, the Wi-Fi Alliance certified the MP-432 for IEEE 802.11n draft 2.0 interoperability.

MSS Version 7.0 and RingMaster Version 7.0 are immediately available as free upgrades to customers with active support contracts. The MP-432 and MX-2800 are shipping now and will be generally available to new customers in late May of 2008. The RM-200 is available for immediate shipment today.
