SAN JOSE, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Brocade(R) (Nasdaq: BRCD), the leader in data center networking solutions that help enterprises connect and manage their information, today announced that it has helped Fuji Television Network Inc. (Fuji TV), Japan's largest media conglomerate, migrate over 400 gigabytes of critical corporate information in an unprecedented project time of approximately 30 minutes.
As part of a storage virtualization project to efficiently manage its rapidly increasing volume of data, Fuji TV was looking for the best way to reliably move data to new storage devices that were optimized for virtualization. In February 2007, Fuji TV began investigating the available data migration options, including Brocade's Data Migration Professional Services offering. The company selected Brocade Data Migration Services after finding their approach to be simpler, faster, and more reliable than other data migration options.
In June 2007, Fuji TV worked with a Brocade Professional Services team to migrate 400 gigabytes of mail server data in 30 minutes — much less downtime than the 13 hours required for a previous data migration project. The company was so satisfied with the results that it decided to utilize Brocade Data Migration Services again to migrate 4.3 terabytes of data in January 2008.
The Brocade Data Migration Service team helps IT organizations move mission-critical data between heterogeneous storage networks quickly and more safely. As part of a robust portfolio of data networking services, highly experienced Brocade consultants provide end-to-end migration services from planning to execution and beyond — helping enterprise customers to alleviate the cost of purchasing software licenses for infrequent data migration projects.
Brocade Data Migration Services are designed to provide enterprise customers:
1) Simplified and Secure Data Migration: No software or agent installation is required in the existing environment, minimizing any disruption possibilities. The data movement is also carefully verified after the migration is completed, increasing customer confidence that the mission critical information is secure. 2) Reliable and Fast Data Migration: Brocade's approach delivers an end-to-end migration without the need for additional, specific backup devices to be added to the network. Fast migration at a speed of 700 gigabytes per hour minimizes downtime. 3) Cost-effective Services Offering: With the Brocade approach to heterogeneous data migration, there is no requirement to purchase additional products or devices. Customers can procure the service as needed, keeping costs flexible and directly related to the migration project scope and complexity.
"Fuji TV has been a user of Brocade data center networking solutions since 2001, and we have been continually pleased with their dependability and quality. Therefore, we were confident in selecting the Brocade Data Migration Services offered by a company we trust," said Hiroyuki Matsubara, Director, Systems Planning Section, Fuji TV. "As the data we are migrating is mission-critical, the reliable and cost-effective Brocade Data Migration Services solution was something we knew we could depend on."
After completing two highly successful data migration projects with Brocade Professional Services, Fuji TV considers Brocade services and solutions as its first choice for future data migration projects, along with storage replacements and server application upgrades.
