LAS VEGAS, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ — VMworld — Wasabi will unveil its latest network storage operating system and a series of upgraded VMX iSCSI SAN appliances in Booth # 356 at VMworld on Tuesday. New features being demonstrated on the VMX2000sx platforms include thin provisioning and snapshot capability in addition to 10Gb Ethernet data ports. Wasabi is demonstrating its new feature set and dramatically upgraded performance in a fully redundant system consisting of 2 VMX2000sx VMware Certified enterprise storage platforms, 2 VMware ESX servers and a VMware VMotion / Storage VMotion server all connected via 10Gb Ethernet routed through a Fujitsu switch.

Wasabi has benchmarked network throughput between Microsoft Windows and Linux clients at a bi-directional 9.8Gb/sec using standard performance measurement tools, including netperf. With Seagate ES.2 high capacity SAS drives, overall system throughput has been benchmarked at 800MB/sec for sustained sequential read write of a RAID 6 protected array.

"With our new features and expanded support for VMware and other server virtualization technologies, we have a great solution for enterprise customers looking for the highest performance iSCSI system available," said Frank Logan, Wasabi's President and CEO. "We believe that our new products offer the best value on the market compared to any other similar iSCSI products. But we don't compromise on performance — our new systems are the fastest on the market and offer exceptional performance using VMware in a 10Gb configuration."

Wasabi's VMX2000sx Enterprise Class iSCSI SAN can be expanded up to 60TB of high capacity SATA or SAS drives. Optional upgrade to single or dual 10GbE data ports is available to offer unrivaled performance for virtual data center environments that otherwise might become I/O bound with lower performance systems. 10GB Ethernet cabling options for CX-4, SR and LR are all supported providing additional deployment flexibility for local and campus applications.

Now that 10Gb Ethernet is viable, supported and cost effective, enterprise customers that want to move away from the complexity, high cost and low performance of outdated fibre channel legacy systems have a range of choices. By connecting network storage over the same TCP/IP networking used in the rest of the data center administrators can simplify the management and support of their IT infrastructure while increasing overall system performance and reliability.

Live demonstrations will be shown at Wasabi's booth, #356 during exhibit hours. All attendees who stop by for a demo and who enter Wasabi's Apple iPod raffle will receive one of its popular "Rock Star" t-shirts (while supplies last).
