Participating companies detail steps taken to address climate change and to measure and monitor carbon emissions

NEW YORK, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ – Dimension Data, a $3.8 billion leading IT solutions and services provider, today announced its participation in the sixth Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP6) questionnaire, affirming its commitment to measuring and managing carbon emissions and promoting environmental sustainability across its worldwide operations. The questionnaire was sent to 3,000 companies by the Carbon Disclosure Project, a collaboration of 385 institutional investors that holds the largest registry of corporate greenhouse gas emissions in the world.

The questionnaires, which are published as part of the CDP6, profile the strategic risks and opportunities associated with climate change and provide stakeholders with a high level of visibility into companies' climate change initiatives. This year marked Dimension Data's first time participating in the process.

"Across the world, Dimension Data and its stakeholders have put the issue of the environment as a number one priority in their business practices," said Merle Singer, Dimension Data's global lead, sustainability. "To address this, Dimension Data has developed a suite of consulting services — Office Sustainability Services — that are designed to help an office-based organization build and execute its response to climate change."

In its questionnaire response, Dimension Data detailed its corporate program to address climate change, greenhouse gas emissions data and steps it has already taken to reduce its environmental impact — including the reconfiguration of a North American data center that, through server consolidation and virtualization, reduced energy consumption by 50 percent. The company's long-term goals center on implementing an Environmental Management System to establish a process and governance framework for its global operations, which currently extend across 47 countries.
