Good Idea,

First, to that Finnish CS major who, as a lowly undergrad, changed the face of the IT landscape forever (and changed quite a few career paths in the process), Thanks, Linus...we're not worthy. :)

And to RJS, and his tireless work at the GNU Project, and the FSF, my humble gratitude. And EMACS still rules.

And Eric Allman...where the hell would we be without Sendmail.

I just realized this could go on for miles of whitespace...Wall, DeIcaza, van Rossum, Young, Ewing, Welsh, O'Reilly...God, what a helluva band.

So to all the men and women who cobbled together the kernels, apps, distros, and glue languages that have kept us happy and busy for over 15 years, Happy Thanksgiving...our table will have a place for you anytime.
Papi... how can you forget the "pasteles?!" No Puerto Rican Thanksgiving meal is complete without them ;)

Oh, and GREAT article... a hearty thanks to all the legends (too many to name, but you know who you are!) of the Open Source community.

Mac OS X's Darwin core is based heavily on BSD and Mach. Without BSD and Mach, you'd have no Mac OS X.
Very Great Article!

In April 2006, I've completely migrated away from Microsoft dependency. I did go to Apple Mac OS X to avoid the temptations of Microsoft products. But, I've been learning Linux since July 1997. I'm probably one of a selected few that still can use Linux without a GUI (Graphical User Interface). In Mac OS X, the Terminal is a shortcut for me... Always!

I'm now 11 years into the Linux operating system, and I am thankful that Linux and Open Source still exists today.

Well, Happy Holidays to Everyone... Worldwide!
