		<description>When one spends as much time as you did on a generalization it helps if it&#039;s truly general.  &quot;Iâ€™m sure you started with a simple example program&quot; just doesn&#039;t apply to everyone - for example, I began programming by learning assembler, studying the file system code that I&#039;d be working with, and eventually starting to add to it, debug the result, and ship it.  I did write a file system exerciser or two along the way, but they didn&#039;t start nearly as simple as hello.c (which if it existed at all back then was likely still largely confined to Bell Labs).&lt;br /&gt;

Rambling discourse tends to be self-indulgent:  perhaps you&#039;re over-compensating for the enforced brevity of your tweets.  What you had to say above could have been expressed well in a couple of not-overly-long paragraphs, and doing so would have saved your readers a fair amount of time.&lt;br /&gt;
