Totally agree!

Vendors offering cheap HPC cluster hardware to win deals drive away vendors who adds real value with their expertise.... HPC Cluster is not just about hardware, but software, hpc systems and programming expertise... which seldom comes from vendors offering cheap hardware...

In the end - the people who suffer are the institutions themselves as niche hpc expertise goes away to do web 2.0, search engines and social networks ventures ;-)

3rd paragraph from end... \"lose\" instead of \"loose\". Why do people have such a problem with these two words?

It\'s been an interesting story to follow, although SGI is being pretty tight-lipped about it all.

We broke the news on VizWorld a week ago ( http://www.vizworld.com/2009/07/sgi-pulls-the-rug-out-from-under-psc/ ), and just now got a vague \'followup\' : http://www.vizworld.com/2009/07/more-on-the-psc-sgi-deal/

HPC vendors were suffered from the rule in last decade. It\'s time to break it. Great Job, Mark!
