Another light nad quick way to get a kde4.3-base with around 100MB RAM usage is to install antiX-M8.2-base (c 250MB so installation takes less than 5 mins on modern boxes), uncomment the sid/unstable repos and install kde4-base using the meta-installer.

Two things I have against arch:

- every time you upgrade the kernel potentially you may screw up your box big time, and there\'s no way to revert back to the old kernel (not without going through flaming hoops anyway)

- good luck trying to stick with the old KDE 3.5 ! I know it can be done, but the repositories get more and more hidden away, etc !

Otherwise I admit, it\'s a good, fast and configurable distro

Most Arch users, including me, use KDEMod repositories. KDEMod brings the \"keep it simple\" philosphy to a extreme on kde desktop. For example, with KDEmod if you want a game from kde games, but only that game, you don\'t need to install the complete kit \"kde-games\", only the game you want.
