I hadn't used this type of pop3 mail client since about 2,000 when I moved to Hotmail. I came to see them as anachronistic and had in fact forgotten they even existed.
However, one of my favourite linux distributions, Salix OS comes with Claws Mail pre-installed so I thought I'd give it a go. Wonderful! Just like old times. Claws checks my three online mail accounts simultaneously in a instant. No annoying flashing adverts, or arm-twist screens to load up either before I can see my inbox. Claws is the new Eudora!

In Claws, the location of the mail directory cannot be easily changed. The address book also cannot be searched.

Nice article, about user actions and toolbar you can easily add it from configuration -> preferences ->Toolbars -> <one window> -> Item type \'User Action\'
Lately was also added support for plugin to add an icon on the toolbar.

I have been using Sylpheed, now Claws forever. It is all I need for mail, IMAP and news. If anything, it has too many options and drilling down into the various configuration options can be daunting at times.

The claws mailing list is quite helpful. I have put a few people onto the program, all have been happy, the learning curve is not all that bad.

I have seen bugs fixed within minutes of being reported!
